Collection of a United States Army General stationed in China, acquired between 1925 and 1948, and thence by descent.
Condition
The top panel of the cover with some shrinkage and separation from the back panel. One of the foliate-form metal corner mounts is missing. Both back hinges are loose. The cover is secured to the base by a later added chain attached on either end by a metal screw. There is a split to the base panel. One of the strap metal mounts is missing approximately a 2 inch section and two of the metal corner mounts to the base are missing. The joinery is a bit loose and there is expected wear overall.
