the scholar Sakya Pandita seated at center, with a flaming sword in a white lotus at left and a religious text in a white lotus at right, holding a vajra in the left hand and a ghanta in the right hand, surrounded by a retinue of buddhas, bodhisattvas, mahasiddhas and lamas in the upper register, flanked by the consort deities Hevajra and Nairatmya at left and Chakrasamvara and Vajravetali at right, the lower register with a retinue of protectors, mythical beasts, donor figures and the precious offerings of the chakravartin

Condition

Painting laid on masonite board. With areas of pigment consolidation overall, with scattered areas of staining and accretion. Partial loss to gold inscription in lower register. 6 in. tear to canvas in lower left quadrant, stable. Wear rubbing and losses to pigment and frame in upper register in upper left quadrant.
