Condition
There are some small losses to the green enamel in the dedication and to the blue enamel in the mark on the base. The silver is tarnished and there are some scratches to the patina on the base and under the rim. There are signs of light surface wear. Overall the piece is in good condition.

Paul Samuel Reinsch (1869 - 1923) was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and served as the United States Minister to China from 1913 to 1919.
The censer was made by An Disheng of the Beijing Baohua lou, a silver atelier, established during the Late Qing and active until the second world war.
