of cylindrical section, the exterior skilfully carved with a continuous landscape scene depicting a military parade, the setting detailed with large rocky boulders and overhanging trees issuing clusters of pine needles, several male figures holding large billowing banners with various figures surrounding them endearingly, the bamboo of a warm brown colour
Condition
As visible in the catalogue photo, there are typical age cracks emanating from the rim. Minute chips and losses to areas of the design, but overall good condition.

Cheng, carved in a similar style with a scene of Lady Cai Yan and her Xiongnu husband framed against a rocky landscape, is illustrated by Wang Shixiang and Wan-go Weng, Bamboo Carving of China, China Institute in America, New York, 1983, p. 122, cat. no. 65.
