The panel is uncradled, flat and stable, with a very faint convex bow beginning to form in the upper right. The paint surface is thick, and is covered by yellow varnish. There is a fine horizontal split across the panel, 4 cm. up from the lower margin. There are a small number of tiny knicks in the wood visible under raking light that have been retouched. Inspection under ultraviolet light shows retouching to a minor surface knock upper left corner, and to tiny dot retouchings scattered throughout the still life as mentioned above.
