Condition

The work is in good condition overall. There is evidence of hairline craquelures on the upper left quadrant upon close observation. Examination under ultraviolet light shows light touch-ups predominantly near the center and on the middle of the top and right borders. However, this is not visible with the naked eye. Framed.

Qualities. Qualities of remembered experiences, things that struck me. As an example, take my Icarus that you have at the Ateneo Art Gallery. It is a recurring theme in many of these paintings, and it has to do really with a combination of a flight of birds, an effect of light, and the way I feel about the legend of Icarus, all rolled into one. These are all different experiences but they all have a common basis which unifies them in a three-in-one kind of effect. I am not at all sure that those who see the picture can trace it all back to all that. I mean it is not important that the audience can trace it back to my original source. What I am interested in is that they get some kind of equivalent emotion of what I originally felt just by looking at the picture. Which I think they do. “
