Condition

The work is in good condition overall. Upon close observation, there is evidence of dust on the woman's white clothing. Examination under ultraviolet light shows gentle retouching sprinkled on the face, neck and the woman's left forearm. However, this is not visible with the naked eye. Framed.

拍品資料及來源

Masriadi confesses to a number of deep-seated fears; he conveys some of them with intense urgency, hence repeating them. Among his apprehensions are that the female is (a) difficult to represent, inherently; (b) different and that this difference has to be made manifest; (c) incompatible with some of his artistic principles and temperament; (d) betrayed by his incomprehension or incapacities and emerging as represented falsely or pitiably… Masriadi ‘reconstructs’ the female so that its body assumes a befitting representativeness. Such a body possesses density, mass and ponderability – attributes that do not conform to stereotypical depictions of the female body.”
