清新隽逸,創寫現代花語
吳冠中、袁運甫等中央工藝美術學院教授在五〇年代以後便牽引著現代主義藝術在中國的發展, 黃冠餘薪傳師藝,青年時便與同學王懷慶、張宏圖、秦龍等人組成「同代人畫會」,在作品中大膽探索個性化的形式語言。彼時黃冠餘的繪畫面貌已在具象的基礎上,顯露出平面感與裝飾性的傾向。八、九〇年代他因多次赴歐美辦展及考察,在現代藝術精華的感召下,他重啟了對自我藝術走向的閉關思索,一鉆便是十年。於2007年重新復出後, 黃冠餘展現給人們一系列以「平面意象」取代立體造型寫實的半具象作品。十年苦心面壁修煉帶給他最深刻的體會便是「捨得」兩字,而他的轉型也是對這二字的詮釋:捨棄了客觀的具象寫實,在理性的形式經營中得到主觀意象的表達。

《荷戀》所屬的「荷」系列便是黃冠餘變法之後的首秀,這批作品不單是他對自家附近荷塘的感性記錄,更延續了中國文化愛蓮畫荷的傳統,筆下造型審美關乎性情與意趣。蓮蓬、荷葉、蘆葦等生命,在點、線、面這些基本元素的平面組合下生動活現。構圖豐滿的作品雖飽含肌理層次,生機之象卻在紛雜叢生中孤立而出。即便是已有衰竭之態的枯荷殘蓮,在這清新雅致的畫面中依舊有著傲然挺立的風骨。絲絲連連的背影為畫面籠上一層朦朧的寧靜之感,卻隱不住自然萬物生生不息的騷動。此畫還被選為2011年《藝術指南》四月號的封面作品,特殊性不言而喻。
