如果說春天是顏色的代表,那麼丁雄泉的作品就是春天萬物的縮影。1980年代以來,丁雄泉開始擺脫現代派各種藝術潮流和運動的影響,以其生命的直覺來傾瀉其情感,將艷麗的色彩搭配姿態撩人的女性形象反覆實驗於作品中,或許是因為思鄉情緒,他亦開始以水墨宣紙描繪各種中國女性的姿態。《倚榻美人圖》裡,畫家將各種不同明度和色調的紅色運用於畫中的主角和背景。紅色在中國象徵喜氣和吉祥,作品中的鮮豔色彩充滿著快樂歡欣之情。藝術家以中國式寫意的筆法勾勒出眼神嬌媚的女主角,風情萬種的她以花扇半遮臉,倚躺在一花團錦簇之馨香中。柔美的女性軀體加上花卉、水果和後方丁雄泉以「畫中有畫」的方式繪出的件件精美小品,豐富的色運交織出一段青春的頌歌,在在烘托畫家在創作時所欲傳達的濃郁愛戀和歡愉氣氛。讓人聯想到〈詩經‧衛風篇〉中的〈碩人〉一詩:「手如柔荑,膚如凝脂,領如蝤蠐,齒如瓠犀,螓首蛾眉,巧笑倩兮,美目盼兮。」丁雄泉從不諱言自己喜愛女人,更愛藉著詩畫歌頌女性之美,《倚榻美人圖》中輕盈、亮麗和別具匠心的色彩運用,正是藝術家內心強烈的情感波瀾與大千世界。
