台灣攝影家阮義忠曾在丁雄泉的訪談中問及:「您在您的畫中畫些什麼東西進去?」丁雄泉回答:「吃喝嫖賭、酒色才氣,樣樣都來。喜怒哀樂、酸甜苦辣,樣樣都去。」換言之,丁雄泉正是以自己於生命中的純然感受作畫,才能創造出風格明確且撼動人心的藝術。
《團扇舞花圖》作於80年代末至90年代初,此時的畫家一改以往擅長使用的畫布,以中國的水墨、毛筆和宣紙為作畫工具,融合西方的壓克力顏料,將中國盛唐時期常見的世俗題材如花鳥、山水、仕女等敷以燦爛瑰麗的色彩,建立了獨樹一幟的個人風格。《團扇舞花圖》中,丁雄泉捨棄了西方的透視法,以書法的筆觸勾勒兩位女子的簡約輪廓,以黑色為主調的背景施以艷麗的粉紫、粉紅和粉橘畫龍點睛,靈動自由的筆法特意不強調女主角的腿部線條,巧妙地營造其身輕如燕的形象,而周遭鮮豔的花朵若漂浮在一處瑰麗曼妙、迷情虛幻的璀璨天地。後方的女子手持團扇半遮小臉,眼神與女主角對望,有著中國傳統女性的矜持和溫文儒雅,藝術家以大膽的淺紫色平塗於其臉和手部,和中央女子的白皙膚色相較,整張作品帶有濃厚的超現實意味,彷彿來自於畫家的幻想夢境。丁雄泉在《團扇舞花圖》把女人的柔、魅、艷刻畫得絲絲入扣,率性地表現女性之美,正所謂畫如其人,觀者彷彿可在此作中清晰地看到藝術家亟欲保留的一種繽紛張揚的青春氣息,以及其熱情洋溢的內心世界。
