「觸摸這些摺皺的宣紙，給我極大的快感，它和永遠挺活、平滑的畫布多麼不同。不經意的紙痕和摻了水的墨紙上渲染成出人意表的效果，趣味無窮。水墨一旦與紙接觸，便隨著手肘運轉的壓力或速度，透過白色紙面，形成變化無窮的黑色、白色，還有灰色、成千種不同層次的灰色……我看到空間在筆下誕生，隨著我的遐思而成形、而遁逸，一種輕快感蔓延開來 — 運筆輕快、色彩輕快，時間也輕快的消逝。」趙無極

《無題》這幅水墨作品規避了傳統山水畫的現實觀照，但畫內蘊藏的技巧、觀念和風格，沿襲了水墨寫意性的圖像觀念，體現了人文傳承和民族身份。如果將趙無極的油彩作品比作交響樂，那麼他的水墨畫則是由傳統水墨分色，濃、淡、乾、濕、焦的韻律所組成的五重奏。「墨分五彩」的變化，也讓人感受到力量在畫面空間的張弛及其循環不息的流動。除了顏色所帶來的聯想，空間的結構也是作品的原動力。在意識的導引下，藝術家於墨彩的潑灑流盪之中，著墨與留白之間，揮發出他對宇宙大象的宏觀理解和冥思，任觀者一睹其超脫絕逸、怡然自適的境界。
