明末 黃花梨樺木面畫案

案面標準格角攢邊造，打槽裝納木紋細密的兩拼樺木面心，下有四根出梢穿帶，長邊另加橫棖交叉支承加強支撐，均出透榫，抹邊冰盤沿上舒下斂至底壓窄平線。帶側腳的圓腿足上端開口，嵌夾帶作肩牙頭的素牙條，以雙榫納入案面邊框底部。兩端腳足間安兩根橢圓梯棖。案面底部仍保存大部份原來的漆灰與漆裹。

The table is in an exceptional state of preservation, with just minor surface wear, in keeping with its age and fragility. As visible in the catalogue photo, there are insignificant bruises and flaking to the fragile exteriors, especially the tips of the feet.

「畫案典範，簡約清雅。」

案形結構家具，腿足縮進安裝，這典型平頭案設計源自古代中國建築大木樑架的造型與結構。二十世紀家具專家學者關注明式家具，最早着眼於這外形簡約光素，線條清爽的平頭案設計。這設計現被視為明朝家具典範。

明代書籍版畫插圖內的平頭案大小不一，用途各異。現例長短適中，但寬度比常見例子寬很多，逾81公分，是特別適宜看書寫字作畫的小畫案。傳世品中，無論是大或小形，畫案數量都十分稀少。

伍嘉恩，《侶明室家具圖集》，香港，2000年，頁126-127載錄一具比利時侶明室收藏的小畫案，同樣樺木面心但較窄，僅63公分。
