General surface abrasions, dents and minor losses. Two pin sized holes on large scrolls of upper section. Four tassels from canopy missing, small losses to appliqué on interior right side. Two holes, perhaps for attachment of a decoration, on top of both large scrolls below. Two small apetures in base. Some old restoration and tears to the reverse. Lovely quality and detail.

Compare the openwork appliques with those on the mass-book from the treasury of the church of San Gennaro in Naples dated to circa 1700. The large patterned scrolls, design of the putti and floral decoration are also similar to the decorative elements on the frame from the same treasure.
