Condition
In good condition with light scratching and gentle wear to the highpoints. The morganite is medium-light slightly purplish pink and eye-clean. Signature located on the shank, significantly rubbed but legible. Fine color and significant sizes of pink beryl were first discovered off the coast of Madagascar in 1910. George Frederick Kunz, chief gemologist for Tiffany & Co. proposed the name "morganite" for this gemstone to honor J.P. Morgan for his significant gifts to the American Museum of Natural History in New York and the Museum of Natural History in Paris. Morgan was an avid gem collector who formed one of the most important collections of the early 1900's.
