naturalistically cast in the form of the emaciated and barefoot immortal depicted supporting himself on a crutch, ribs showing through his ragged robes, wearing a headband and double gourd hanging from his pouch, head turned to one side with a wide grin beneath large alert eyes, the reverse incised with a four-character inscription

Condition
The figure is in overall good condition. There are minor breaks to the fragile edges like the hems and collars of his robe. There are also areas of pitting and oxidation as consistent with age. The catalogue illustration is slightly redder than the actual colour of the bronze.
