陳鳴遠，生於宜興，康、雍時人，精紫砂，技法精湛，藝風全面，所製仿古之器，時人尤為惜之。清人吳騫，作《陽羨名陶錄》，書中記，「予嘗得鳴遠天雞壺一，細砂作紫棠色，上鋟庾子山詩，為曹廉讓先生手書，製作精雅，真可與三代古器並列」，詳見《紫泥清韻．陳鳴遠陶藝研究》，香港中文大學文物館，香港，頁61。
