the translucent white stone carved with shallow rounded sides rising from a short straight foot to a flared rim, all supported on a domed base well carved in openwork bats soaring amidst clouds between beaded borders, the inner rim engraved and filled in with gilt with a stylised fret band, the white stone with faint russet inclusions and streaks

Condition
The pedestalled dish is in overall good condition. There are very minute nicks to the rim. There is a natural flaw on the underside of the foot measuring approx. 10 cm., where the colour of the stone is darker. One small area of the openwork carved decoration measuring approx. 1 cm., is abrasive and gritty.
