the body resting on a short foot, the exterior decorated in low relief with a pair of taotie masks, interrupted by a pair of loop taotie mask handles below the key-fret bordered rim, the remaining two sides with a larger pair of loop handles in the form of boldly worked mythical beasts issuing from the rim, the base incised with a six-character fanggu mark, the stone of a rich spinach-green colour accentuated with dark speckles and white streaks

The bowl is in overall good condition with minute nicks and faint bruises to the extremities, including the lower tips of the beasts' beards, one may have been slightly polished. There are also minute nicks to the mouthrim and footrim as can be expected, the largest measuring approx. 0.3 cm to the inner footring. The actual colour of the jade is similar to the catalogue illustration.
