of circular section, carved on the rounded cover with a young boy holding a large branch of flowering lotus beside a gnarled pine, the base of similar form carved with a flowering peony amidst leafy stems, the interior lacquered black
Condition
As a consequence of age and expected wear, the layer of black lacquer has partially flaked off at the rims of the box and cover thus revealing the interior body underneath in small areas. Otherwise, the box interior and exterior are in very good condition. The colour of the box is slightly deeper and richer than as illustrated in the catalogue.
