boldly worked in the form of a flat-bottomed boat fitted with an awning at the stern and a shelter lined with pierced windows, two figures depicted sitting atop the shelter around a circular basin containing a fish, two others on deck cleaning the aft with mops while a solitary figure at the bow reaches inside a wicker basket, fishing equipment including a net attached to a pole and a long spear line the sides of the boat, the stone of a pale green colour with slight white and russet inclusions

Condition
The carving is in overall good condition with just insignificant minute nicks to the extremities including the edges of the sampan. The catalogue illustration is a tinge more red than the actual colour of the stone.
