The jar is in good condition and has a particularly lustrous glaze, with exception of restoration to a 3.5 and 1.5cm., area of the rim and minor glaze firing imperfections including tiny glaze flakes, grit adhered to the glaze and light glaze scratches.

本品屬磁州窰器典型，白地褐彩剔牡丹綻放，紋飾得體，細緻流麗，器型優雅，出類拔萃。藝匠於褐色護胎土上剔刻花紋，露出白色護胎土層，對比分明，賞心悅目。型飾相近之紋罐，雖有數例可比，唯風格各異，似為獨立創製，而非成組燒作，比例、紋飾分別甚大。本品口沿施釉，頗為獨特，同類紋罐多為澀口，以罐蓋遮掩口沿。

比較一磁州罐例，出自Scheinman收藏，曾展於《Hare's Fur, Tortoiseshell, and Partridge Feathers》，Harvard University Art Museums，劍橋，麻省， 1995年，編號69，另比一例，出自Malcolm收藏，曾展於Burlington Fine Arts Club，倫敦，1936-37年冬，售於倫敦蘇富比1977年3月29日。

尚可比較數例，其一出自Manthorne收藏，售於紐約蘇富比1978年11月4日，編號116；另一對例作出自Joanne Cummings故藏，售於紐約佳士得1996年9月19日，編號255。
