The present wristrest signed by Guo Songshou (1818-1891) is inscribed with a seven-line poetical inscription in cursive. Guo, a native of Xiangyin Chengxi, Hunan province, was the first diplomatic envoy dispatched to Britain in the first year of the Guangxu reign. Yun Xian was a sobriquet employed by Guo, alongside many others, including Yun (different character) Xian and Yun Xuan.
