羅建武精通水墨畫作，以大自然與世界各地的遊歷見聞為靈感，並成為其創作不可或缺之源。抵台早年，其作廣納為國立故宮博物院之館藏，他於1987年移居美國，作品更受大都會藝術博物館青睞，並收納為國際館藏。他走遍世界各地，遊歷黃山、華山及武夷山等名山古廟，尋訪自古以來為人津津樂道的奇樹怪枝，一睹其自然姿態。
