王冬齡1981年畢業於中國美術學院，其後更成為中國頂尖的現代書法家。他視書法為「中國文化根源」，文字的形態和線條在歷史上不斷演變。書法是展示中國文字之美的唯一形式，更是文化傳統本身的美學象徵。他的抽象畫作摒棄傳統形式，著眼於水墨表達本身的美感。王冬齡穩實有致的創作風格，可理解為對弗朗茲‧克萊恩及羅伯特．馬瑟韋爾的緬懷；其筆法生動的行動畫作，則自井上有一（拍品編號2818）及白髮一雄之軀體動勢借鑒而來。他以現代風格的書法，開拓切實的創作方式，直接將傳統筆墨精髓與當代思想力量聯繫起來。
