日本當代藝術經常與影響深遠、以村上隆為首的「超扁平」運動劃上等號,或受到奈良美智的可愛風格所影響,被冠上「卡娃依」的外號,甚至讓人聯想到草間彌生的普普畫風。今次拍賣會隆重介紹多位才華橫溢、年輕出眾的日本藝術家,風格有別於以上各個藝術運動的大方向,聚焦於簡約主義、人物肖像、超現實,以至抽象主義。這批年輕藝術家的作品,為日本當代藝術注入新氣象,讓觀眾以全新角度審視既有藝術形式。

一九八二年生於京都,在京都市立藝術大學先後取得繪畫學士、研究碩士及博士學位,二〇一一年畢業時獲該大學頒授「梅原猛賞」。翌年,她榮獲京都市文化市民局「京都市藝術新人賞」。樫木知子所描繪的美麗女性,別具日本平安時代盛行的傳統美人畫氣質,當時的首都「平安京」即其出生地京都。她的美人肖像呈現女性內斂嫻雅之美,潤澤的線條及柔和色系互相重疊,營造出若隱若現的半透效果。她的作品技巧風格圓熟流暢,備受外界讚譽,並獲挑選參與多個國際群展,當中包括澳洲布里斯本昆士蘭美術館的「第七屆亞太區當代藝術三年展」(二〇一二年)、香港國際藝術展(二〇一二年)及紐約 Japan Society的「Bye Bye Kitty!! Between Heaven and Hell in Contemporary Japanese Art」(二〇一一年)。樫木知子是Ota Fine Arts藝術家之一,自二〇〇八年起於該藝廊舉行多場個人展覽。其作品更納入Toyota Art collection 及澳洲 Museum of Old and New Art 等收藏品之列。
