本桌造形簡潔，明麗典雅，僅飾雲紋式角牙及馬蹄足，內藏精妙建構，匠心盡見。桌面為活心板，裝卸簡易，底藏棋盤，黃楊木框，棋盤側鏇圓口棋子盒兩個，桌側四面各有一抽屜，小巧隱蔽。此類桌甚為實用，既可作餐桌，亦供雙陸、圍棋對弈，常見於十八世紀書畫及木刻版畫，桌前者多為婦女，見姚文瀚《芳亭採花圖》，現藏於台北故宮博物院，曾展於《新視界 : 郎世寧與清宮西洋風》，台北，2007年，編號32。棋桌於中國歷史悠久，現存作例包括東漢年製六博棋桌，圍棋棋桌則源於唐代，至宋代更為流行，Sarah Handler論述，古籍記載玄宗好圍棋，一日下棋，將輸，貴妃放猧子於坐側，猧子乃上局，局子亂，上大悅，詳見《Austere Luminosity of Chinese Classical Furniture》，柏克萊，2001年，頁187。

可參考一霸王棖棋桌，現藏於費城博物館，圖錄於安思遠，《Chinese Furniture.
