拍品資料及來源

The technique used to decorate the pommel and cantle plates on this saddle are similar to a saddle in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, dated to the 17th / 18th century, accession number 1997.214.1. The present saddle, like the one in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, was either made in China for the Tibetan market or strongly influenced by Chinese design. The example in the Metropolitan Museum has Chinese characters chiseled on the interior of the pommel plate indicating a likely Chinese origin.
