註：Castilho於一九五三至五九年出任葡國駐港澳領事。他與夫人皆好藝術，與香港書畫家如趙少昂、呂壽琨等亦有交往，得呂氏作品尤多。一九五八年六月，他代表澳門政府，接受呂氏以濠江歷史為題材之作品十二幀，以誌中葡友誼。
本幅寫於同年，以「劫餘」為題，未明示所指何者，香江同輩畫家如黃般若，亦嘗取本地木屋區大火入畫，未知呂氏此作與相約時期之九龍城啓德新村木屋區火災，是否相涉，或泛指戰後遺留之廢墟景象。
若考畫家五六年曾寫〈光之混合〉，畫中亦見一片頹垣敗瓦，但自題曰「心光與自然光源之混合變色」，則旨在探討光線與顏色於國畫技法上之運用，其光、色融合之表現，甚類本幅，或同具考究畫法之用。
