註：白石老人寫蝴蝶花，多配飛蟲，如蝴蝶、蜜蜂，或蜻蜓，一動一靜，相互配襯。本幅屬寫意小品，構圖簡約疏朗，置蝴蝶花兩株，呈高低對應之勢，下方密葉遮蓋，餘下位置皆以留白處理。省掉飛蟲，僅在花莖中端，醒以硃紅一點，狀若微豆，復添幾道墨線，勾出觸角細足，瓢蟲攀伏於上，鮮活之貌，於此盡矣！

畫上無署年，以筆墨清簡，雖非工緻，仍活潑傳神，似屬七十餘歲時快意之作。
