「雪江堂」乃日本政界元老西園寺公一（1906-1993）於一九六三年創立。他與中國政府及民間淵源深厚，四九年後，一直從事日中友好工作，是日中友好協會創始人，大力推動兩國非官方的交流活動。一九五八年起長居北京，直到「文革」亂局，他在周恩來勸告下返回日本，免受衝擊。
一九六五年，「雪江堂」獲中國政府特准購進齊白石作品百餘件，籌劃在當地巡迴展出，並得郭沫若為展覽題詞。本幅即是批作品之一，保持裝裱原貌，畫背貼有作出口用途之「中國製造」英文標簽，並有「文留」編號簽條。
另，匣中附榮寶齋木版水印信箋，上題「齊白石筆，松樹鷹圖」，鈐「雪江堂」印，並附郭沫若上述展覽題辭之照片。
