the egg-form amber bottle of attractive rich mahogany-red colour, delicately embellished in mother-of-pearl and gold lacquer with a continuous design of the 'Three Friends of Winter'
Condition
The snuff bottle is in overall very good. condition. There are typical minor flakes to the tips of the mother-of-pearl petals and the rim of the bottle. There are light surface scratches and natural flaws to the stone.

The exquisite embellishment is by the artist Tomizo Saratani, born 1949 in Kyoto and now working in Vienna as a restorer of Japanese lacquer and Shibayama. This is one of a small number of masterpieces he has worked on.
