the first string comprising a Song dynasty recumbent hound, carved from a smoothly polished brown and black stone with pale celadon highlights, attached together with a black jade archaistic bird, the other string formed of four white jade carvings, including a cat on a leaf, a mandarin duck, a crane grasping a lingzhi in its beak, together with an octagonal bead

Condition

The carvings are in overall good condition. There are a few occasional typical minor nicks along the edges and original nibbling to the surface including a tiny nick to the edge of one of the white leaf carving. The actual colours of both strings are of a somewhat warmer and richer tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
