The bowl is in good condition. It has a shallow firing chip under the footrim and slight kiln adhesion to the foot.

鈞窰瓷器以釉色鮮麗多變、質感深厚著稱，數百年來備受中外鑑藏家珍視。該窰燒製的單色釉瓷中，以此天青色為最尊貴者。而有關此釉色的燒製技法在過去一直眾說紛紜。直至上世紀八十年代末，才發現此青藍色調並非來自顏料，而是一種光學視覺效果。在燒製過程中，鈞瓷釉料熔融成為細小晶體相，當光線穿透這層玻璃乳光釉，便造成藍光反射，使瓷器呈現出天青藍彩。釉層的厚度對視覺上天青的形成至關重要。過去人們一直以為該效果是多層施釉造成的，而在窯址上分析過瓷器殘片後發現，瓷胎上僅施過一層釉料。但因胎底甚厚，釉料水分被瓷胎上的氣孔吸收，故釉面顯得更加厚潤均勻。
