Colour and Clarity: According to both Gübelin and AGL reports, the ruby is natural, of Burmese (Mogok) origin, with no indications of heating and clarity enhancement. Also accompanied by an AGL Jewelfolio and letter, stating that "weighing an impressive nearly 30 carats, this ruby is in a weight class that is very exclusive for this source (Burma). Furthermore, this gem possesses a richly saturated, homogeneous color that is typical of fine quality rubies from this famous locale...... This exceptional ruby is set in a ring from one of the world's most prestigious jewelry houses: Cartier. A gem quality unheated Burmese ruby of 29.62 cts is extraordinary rare and distinguishes this gem as being uniquely significant." Please refer to the reports, Jewelfolio and letter for details. In our opinion, the ruby is of strong red colour, eye clean. Upon 10x loupe, there are natural crystal and fingerprint inclusions, with a few tiny surface pits, not seen to naked eyes. Diamonds are about E to F colours, VVS to VS clarity. Signed MT Cartier and numbered to the shank, with platinum mark. Condition: Platinum ring mount, signs of wear and fine scratches to the shank, otherwise in very good condition. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please note that jadeite and rubies of Burmese origin and articles of jewellery containing jadeite or rubies of Burmese origin all less than 100 years old may not be imported into the US. 卡地亞緋紅國度

紅寶石幾千年以來都被視為世上最珍貴的寶石，亦因此在高級珠寶中佔據了無可取代的地位。在世界上響負盛名的高級珠寶商卡地亞一直以其創新和標誌性的設計聞名於世，但直至雅克．卡地亞第一次出訪印度，以及印度帕蒂亞拉大君將幾千件寶石交託卡地亞重新鑲嵌，即約1910及1920年代，品牌才開始將紅寶石運用在其精緻的設計，在受印度風格影響的華麗珠寶和Art Deco的創作中尤其常見，並主要以紅寶石珠子和簡單切割的紅寶石來配襯其他的寶石。自那時開始，紅寶石在卡地亞各式珍貴珠寶中，無論在大小和品質方面都越見卓越不凡，並在品牌最瑰麗的作品中獨佔鰲頭。

讓．巴蒂斯特．塔維涅出版於1676的《六段旅程》(The Six Voyages)一書中曾提到「當一顆紅寶石重逾六卡拉，而又完美無瑕，便無法計算它的價值。」時至今日相距幾百年，大顆的高質素紅寶石依然如當時般稀有，甚至比從前更難得一見。拍品1762的紅寶石戒指，不但是出自卡地亞的精工鑲嵌，還鑲有來自緬甸傳奇抺谷山脈的紅寶石。能與此紅寶石媲美的可能只有現藏於美國史密森國家自然歷史博物館的卡門．露西婭緬甸紅寶石戒指，指環上的寶石重23.10卡拉，亦是一顆不可多得的珍品。博物館指：「儘管藍寶石、袓母綠和鑽石都有機會重達超過一百卡拉，超過20卡拉的優質緬甸紅寶石卻是極度稀有。」

是次呈獻的卡地亞戒指上鑲有一顆重達29.62卡拉的緬甸紅寶，碩大無比，在出自抺谷的紅寶石中絶對是非常珍貴稀有，加上它均勻和艷麗的色彩，叫人難以忘懷，無疑是一件屬於卡地亞緋紅國度、獨一無二的稀世奇珍。
