Jean Fouquet joined his father, Georges Fouquet, as a jewellery designer in 1919. At the Paris 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs, his name appeared for the first time alongside those of the other designers of the Maison Fouquet and within a year he was exhibiting under his own name at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs. As an important member of the Union des Artistes Modernes, he was renowned for his simple use of metal and enamel, chosen to emphasise his characteristically bold yet pure geometric designs.
