Movement is in working order while cataloguing, but it has not been tested for the accuracy of time keeping and a service might be required at the buyer's expense. Dial in good condition. Case with light scuffs but hallmarks remain very clear and visible. Lugs stamped twice with the Minerve and 750 gold hallmark. 百達翡麗3970型號腕錶廣為人知，而3971型號是極其罕有的另一相似款式。已知的首系列僅包含9枚腕錶，均採用藍寶石水晶背透蓋，不同於普通旋入式錶背蓋。

1986年百達翡麗開始生產首個3970和3971型號系列，取代已於1985年停產的傳奇2499型號。此首系列可被看作是2499型號與3970型號間的過渡系列，繼續沿用2499型號的傳統撳扣式錶背蓋。此腕錶作為過渡系列之一，蓋有Minerve與750黃金金屬印章。

兩年後的1987年末，3970與3971型號的首個系列被新款式取而代之，全部採用旋入式錶背蓋；3970型號為實心錶背蓋，3971型號則選用藍寶石背透蓋。
