The overall condition of both benches is good. There are expected filled and patched repairs to several small splits and chips; particularly on the legs and feet. There are scattered water stains on the seat frames and it is possible that one or more of the short end aprons has been replaced.

條凳是中國家具中的主要類別。放在門前一側或門道兩旁，條凳必須結實輕便，以便日常所用。店鋪人來人往，條凳可以坐，也可以當作一張穩固的工作平台來用。在飯館食肆或街邊小攤，窮、富人家都用條凳。大部分條凳用料、製作粗糙，適用戶外。

工匠用如此珍貴的木材做實用的條凳是因為硬木非常耐用。部份條凳因當地生產硬木而選以為料，此對最為特別地方或為特殊用途而製的條凳選用了最珍貴的黃花梨木。

凳面鑽框鑲蓆心，圓柱腿，線角牙條，工藝嫻熟流暢，必出自高人之手。牙條、牙頭與腿用托角榫結構，不同於其他黃花梨條凳的結構。也有異於一般條凳的用途，黃花梨條凳肯定用於室內。

傳世品中沒有相同的例子可作比較，但一張來自Tseng-Ridell收藏，尺寸相仿，牙條飾卷雲紋、卷雲足例曾展於台北歷史博物館，見《風華再現：明清家具特展》，台北，1999年，頁63。
