(張)右王椒畦先生為吳次平丈所寫《秋夜讀書圖》,雄渾蒼秀,超然塵埃之表。按圖作於道光壬午(1822)冬日,此正次平丈枕經葄史揅京錬都時也。丈為錢唐菘圃相國文孫,早年失怙,經母太夫人訓迪,成辛丑(1841)進士,洊列京卿,視學江右,歾於任所。丈亦善繪事,嘗與海鹽李乾齋先生相切靡,筆墨亦高澹,惜所作不多。予與丈嗣君小耘司馬訂晜弟交,後又申之以婚姻,小耘歸道山後,後嗣不振,家業凌替,此等世寶亦復流散人間。陳君選青雅好收藏,金蹄玉躞充斥桓廚,矧是卷為故家舊物,知其愛護當更出尋常鑑賞之上,則是卷亦得所歸矣。卷中題詠諸公皆嘉、道間名宿,予所識者潘紱庭丈一人而已。光緒丁酉(1897)十月,張鳴珂。鈐印:張鳴珂、張公束
