The bold angularity of the present piece is not uncommon among other soft paste white-glazed vases of the period. A Qianlong mark and period soft paste vase with similar open work handles and archaistic motifs is illustrated in the Min Chiu Society Exhibition of Monochrome Ceramics, 1977, Catalogue, no. 141. Another Qianlong imperial vase but of globular shape and featuring similar sharply outlined shoulders is illustrated in John Ayers, Chinese Ceramics from the Koger Collection, 1985, no. 140.
