Condition

The washer is lacking two small fungi and another has a polished chip. There is an iron spot on the interior and a glaze flaw on the exterior rim.

A fungus-shaped brushwasher with a crackled glaze was exhibited at the International Exhibition of Chinese Art, London 2935 and is included in the Illustrated Catalogue Chinese Government Exhibits, vol. II, Shanghai, 1936, p. 164, no. 218. A similar guan-type washer but of peach-shape is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Monochrome Porcelain, Hong Kong, 1999, pl. 232.
