the shallow flaring sides covered inside and out with a thick illustrious black glaze falling short above the foot, thinning to a light brown at the rim, the base bearing a four-character inscription in ink

Characteristic fine crackling to the glaze on the interior and exterior. There is a small glaze gap near the rim on the interior, and a small glaze flake on the interior base, both visible in the catalogue photo. There are two small circular 'dry' patches of black slip on the exterior where the glaze has pulled back in the firing.
