The overall condition is excellent, with the exception of a tiny burst bubble of approx. 0.1 cm to the 5 o'clock position of one dish (faintly visible on p. 119 of the catalogue). The enamel has been very well preserved with no apparent loss.

巧妙運用釉上彩，燒造出繽紛多色且諧調美妙之粉彩瓷，可說是景德鎮造瓷史上最後的一大創新。粉彩瓷獨特的胭脂紅彩及白彩傳自歐洲，直到康熙末年時，此釉方終於能在中國獨力生產，促使景德鎮御窰廠成功燒造出粉彩瓷。雍正年間更發展出各式新穎的粉彩紋飾，將各式新研發出的釉上彩之特色，發揮到了極致。

景德鎮之畫師繪瓷題材無須遠求，清代六大家之一惲壽平創新的花卉畫法，正風靡一時且廣為仿傚，也成為瓷匠結合不同彩釉，繪作花卉紋的摹本。惲氏（1633-1690）受宋代花鳥繪畫啟發，以沒骨花卉聞名，不以墨線勾勒輪廓，僅以色彩濃淡表現花葉。筆下花卉常作粉紅、淡紫，以鉛白調色，作出各式不透明柔和粉色──與造瓷上新發展出的白彩運用如出一轍，也徹底改變了既有的傳統五彩瓷器。惲式風格繪花自然生動，每片花瓣的上下正反面，其細微的轉折飄動，都以變化豐富的色彩細細詮釋，可參考一件惲氏作品，繪秋菊山石，售於香港蘇富比，2010年4月6日，編號736（圖一），而景德鎮的畫師也追隨著這樣的風格。

此對菊紋粉彩菊瓣式盤獨一無二，菊瓣式器形亦有作菊瓣稜盤壁，直折沿式，可見二對作例，造形略為不同，皆曾現身拍賣會，其一出自 A.E. Hippisley 收藏，售於紐約 Anderson Galleries，1925年1月30日，編號57；另一對近期售於香港蘇富比，2013年10月8日，編號203（圖二）；台北故宮藏有一菊花盤，錄於《故宮清瓷圖錄－康熙窰．雍正窰》，東京，1980年，卷1，圖版98；《龍泉集芳：創業七十周年記念》又載一菊花盤，卷1，東京，1976年，圖版1064。另一例曾先後為 C.M. Moncrieff 及 John F. Woodthorpe 珍藏，現存漢堡 Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe，二度於倫敦蘇富比售出1952年12月9日，編號139，1954年4月6日，編號102，並於1994年10月31日售於香港佳士得，編號672，著錄於 Giuseppe Eskenazi 及 Hajni Elias，《A Dealer’s Hand. The Chinese Art World Through the Eyes of Giuseppe Eskenazi》，倫敦，2012年，頁343，圖版418；Paul and Helen Bernat 伉儷舊藏一盤，曾二度由香港蘇富比售出，1988年11月15日，編號47，及1991年10月29日，編號257，後又再售於香港佳士得1994年5月1日，編號671。

另有相類作例，盤心或繪牡丹、或繪菊花，口呈菊瓣式：可參考清宮舊藏二例，現存北京故宮博物院，錄於《故宮博物院藏文物珍品大系．琺瑯彩．粉彩》，香港，1999年，圖版58、59（圖三）；另外一對售於香港蘇富比1977年5月16日，編號211；還有一對售於1980年5月21日，編號227，其中一盤刊載於《天民樓藏瓷》，香港，1987，編號96；1993年4月27日，香港蘇富比售出另一盤，編號207，後於香港佳士得售出，2000年4月30日，編號586。

雍正時期燒造之菊瓣盤，時有白釉無彩之例，部分於民國時期後掛彩。玫茵堂收藏一白釉菊瓣式盤，刊載於康蕊君，《玫茵堂中國陶瓷》，倫敦，1994—2010年，卷4，編號1781，其他白釉作例可參考香港蘇富比，1991年4月30日，編號84；2002年5月7日，編號503，並再次於2007年10月9日售出，編號1533。
