註：一九四八年乃白石畫作產量的高峰期。時值畫家八十八歲，畫上具此題款，對求畫贈畫者，寓長壽之意。又兼幣值急貶，持實物遠勝鈔票，白石畫既能易米，成有價商品，故求畫者盈門，直到他拒不接件止。本幅寫於這段「高產量」期間，雖非鉅製，寫來平淡中見天趣。荷花、剪刀草分佈畫面上下，點綴翠鳥居中，鳥長喙圖目棲於荷梗上，俯身欲動，甚具八大意趣，屬畫家順手拈來的愜意小品。
