A stain can be found at the lower section of the painting, which can be improved by restoration. Otherwise, generally in good condition.

註：小曼嗜畫，最早受其母吳曼華影響，韻秀細柔，加之自身天賦極高，涉筆成趣；居滬後山水師事賀天健，又與吳湖帆等多有過往，銖積寸累，畫藝於三十年代大有進境，一九四一年在上海舉辦個人畫展引起一時轟動。賀天健評價她「東坡論畫鄙形似，懶瓚雲山寫意多，摘得驪龍頷下物，何須粉本拓山河。」當是對徒弟最恰當的讚許認同。
〈寒林圖〉自題「寫元人筆意」，近景坡石枯樹青松取自倪雲林，惟設色皴法用己意；山皆取峻峭挺拔之勢，中景石壁以墨勾形，罩染赭石、花青、石綠，復加牛毛皴，得淡雅之趣；遠山衹染淡墨赭石兩色，不施皴法。整畫用色「取其冷靜清逸」，亦其所愛也。世人僅著眼於她與徐志摩的一段感情纏結，往往敝其畫境中清逸幽雅之韻味，今睹此作，當可窺此民國奇女士恬淡的一面。
