註：畫中稱「高生」者，也許為白石學生高希舜，〈白石詩草二集〉收錄「私淑弟子高生畫飛雀」，即其為高氏所作題畫詩。高希舜（1895-1982），湖南益陽人。一九一八年以第一名考入國立北京美專，師承陳師曾、姚茫父等，白石稱贊他作畫不落前人窠臼，曾多次為其
題詩作跋。

是幅從書法、用印看，似為四十年代末、五十年代初作品，純以赭石畫就，也許利用畫盤中尚餘顏料，師生談笑間，便成此圖。齊白石作畫題材廣泛恐為歷代畫家之冠，學者郎紹君曾作統計，花草蔬果類合共逾百種。本幅畫何首烏，奇形異狀，似首現於其作品中，當為其題
