描述
of rectangular form and three-tiered section, the brown lacquer ground inlaid on the sides with sections of wickerwork contained within recessed lobed panels and subtly incised with lozenge motifs, the top and tiers further embellished with brass mounts at the corners and vertical mounts along the edges, all picked out with rivets, the interior lacquered in brown
Condition
There are expected dents, scratches and cracks in commensuration with age to the lacquer and wicker in areas, but overall the box has been well preserved and is in rather good condition. A few rivets are missing on the metal mounts at the corners (showing on the illustration in the catalogue) and one of the small metal mounts is missing on one side of the bottom tier. The tiers have some expected small chips to the interior rim, together with age cracks and / or stains on the interior bottom planks. The bottom tier is set with an additional smaller tray that fits inside. The actual colour is slightly warmer, more deep reddish brown compared to the catalogue illustration.
