徐累的傳統國畫筆法間流露出一股西方超現實主義精神，飽滿墨色構成的畫面如詩如幻，美得醉人，不禁痴迷其中。他與同期許多藝術家不同，並沒有故意以顛覆性或挑逗性的理念衝擊觀者，而是含蓄蘊藉地呈現夢幻圖像，有風趣調侃，也有一絲情色暗示。徐累微妙調整視角，熟悉的事物乍現陌生環境中，雖刻畫逼真但又不似我們認知中的現實。這一絲不苟打造的幻象並無任何故弄玄虛，讓觀者恍然大悟，眼前的一切皆為表象，似曾相識卻又恍如隔世，與著名阿根廷作家博爾赫斯曾稱文學「原作是對翻譯的不忠」可謂不謀而合。
《月幕》(拍品編號19) 讓人想起窗幔下賞月的孤身只影，但眼前月亮如此靠近，讓人陌生。徐累把這主題獻給其鍾愛的意大利作家卡爾維諾筆下的《月亮的距離》，那是一個月亮離開地球的故事，原作中講述一個三角愛情故事，戀人本輕易往來地球和月亮，但隨月亮的遠去，他們也只得分別兩地。徐累以簡潔的畫面捕捉到這一刻空虛，但華麗的帷幔和奪目的月亮也讓畫面充滿慾望和嚮往。帷幔不僅使觀者把注意力放在月亮，也形成了一個私密空間。然而觀者仍不免緊盯厚重的帷幔，渴望穿透到背後的空間窺見點什麼，不免帶上一絲情色意味。徐累的畫幅是一個沒有答案的謎團、一本沒有結局的偵探小說，就像他本人，對過去的文化滿是緬懷，同時積極穿梭於現今的萬變世界。
