There are several age cracks to the rim around the cover with associated tiny losses of cinnabar lacquer. The age cracks have been stabilized with black re lacquering on the interior rim. There is further expected re lacquering to the box interior rim as well as to the foot rim and the base.

永樂雕漆紋飾以花卉為主，佈局繁密，掩仰有序。此盒蓋面在素地上以盛開的牡丹花為主，花朵飽滿，枝繁葉茂，襯托著含苞放的花蕾，使畫面充滿美感。此盒底左側原有針刻「大明永樂年製」直款，但已被磨去，重髹黑漆。
