Condition

There is a very tiny chip to the rim with an associated hairline crack extending through the lip on 4cm, otherwise the dish is in good overall condition with very fresh colors and gilding.

拍品資料及來源

The subject of this dish is know as 'the generals of the Yang family'. This relates to a story from the Northern Song Dynasty when the men of the Yang family had all been killed by the invading Khitan Tartars. The women of the family therefore took up arms in defense of their country and are shown here riding out to meet the enemy watched by the matriarch of the Yang family. This combination of Famille Verte and Imari decoration is particularly unusual. Compare a similar dish sold at Christie's, London, 17 June 2003, lot 212.
