Condition
Both pottery beakers are in very good condition. One is slightly darker, with scattered brown spots, probably caused by the kiln.

席德進的創作十分多元,不論在繪畫或攝影藝術上均有特出的表現,但較罕為人知的是他的陶器創作。在1955至1956年間,他曾受杭州藝專的同學吳學讓的邀請,至其所創立的「永生工藝社」作仿古的藝術陶瓷設計。吳學讓當時提供以石膏模漿和手拉胚方式製作生坏,請其藝專同儕如席德進、廖未林、林元慎等人一同在生坏上雕刻紋飾、作彩繪。當時流行的裝飾題材以漢代石刻的馬車人物為主,人物、山水和風景次之,作品成為台灣藝術陶瓷的初始式樣,多被用做外交禮物。漢朝的磚畫一直是席德進所心儀的中國傳統藝術,以漢刻作設計的發想,也讓他備感趣味,成為他在繪畫之外的另一嘗試。除「永生工藝社」外,席德進也曾至「中國陶器公司」、「中華藝術陶瓷廠」和「龍門陶藝公司」畫陶,對現代陶藝的興起及工藝美學的形塑,或無心插柳地做出了具體的貢獻。在《陶刻杯》上,席德進雕刻一個背著行囊,策馬遠行的人,除映照他離鄉背景,山水獨行的人生自況,作品也見證了一時代的工藝成就。
